This is a great post by Rachel Held Evans about what church she desires. I toy with the same feelings. It feels like the mainstream church culture would place a thirty-something in a church with 'modern' worship because I am close to the same age as those attending. But I am more drawn to the traditional worship and all the joys/problems of a entrenched 100 year old congregation. But I guess it doesn't matter if your church is modern or traditional or contemporary or emerging, if your congregation looks and acts like the Kingdom of God you are doing it right. I have never been cool and nor do I want to, there is too much 'fun' in the un-cool.
