The UMC & the Political Parites

I have received this in our conference email and thought it was extremely interesting.

The General Board of Church and Society has compiled an election guide
comparing the position of The United Methodist Church with party platforms. This
guide is intended as a discernment to evaluate potential leaders and political
agendas of various parties compared with the Social Principles and Book of
Resolutions. It does not endorse a particular candidate nor does it advocate a
two-party system. GBCS encourages “you to seek out details on the variety of
political parties and candidates.” Links are provided for other candidates and
parties for whom there is information. Also available for download are six
bulletin inserts that address these areas: “Economic and Environmental Justice,”
“Civil and Human Rights,” “Health and Wholeness,” “Peace with Justice,” “Women
and Children” and “United Nations and International Affairs.”
